Baba’s Sayings 

 “One Truth from the standpoint of Form is called ‘Bhagwan’, from the standpoint of Formless is called, ‘Parmatman’ and from the standpoint of knowledge, is called the ‘ Brahman’, Absolute Consciousness.” 

      • When one is in love with Ishwara,God, all other attraction for material desires vanishes.

     

      • To separate Atman,Self from this worldly appearance is itself a negation of this appearance.

     

      • Despite many miracles, one should not deviate from one’s goal.

     

      • All reasonings end in Realization.

     

      • The bliss experienced in Samadhi is nothing compared to remaining indifferent to expectations.

     

      • Inculcate dispassion from this world and love one’s spiritual life.

     

      • Remember three things always:
        • Humility
        • Contemplation on “Self”
        • Seva of one’s Guru

     

      • That heart alone is pure in which God-related questions have awakened.

     

      • It is ego that limits us. One becomes the basis on which he develops an ego.

     

      • Spiritual practice should be carried out secretly. One should not exhibit oneself as a great spiritual person.

     

      • Without one’s mind being attached to God one cannot attain the highest stage of perfection.

     

      • Keep in mind three things:
        • Talk less
        • Eat less
        • Sleep less.

     

      • Laziness weakens both mind and body. It is one of the biggest obstacle in a seeker’s life.

     

      • Maintaining the equanimity of mind under all circumstances is true intention.

     

      • The Devotee and Realized person do not live in this world. They ignite fire to this complete phenomenal world.

     

      • Simplicity is the first step towards the path of devotion.A skeptical and wicked mind is a sign of downfall.

     

      • To see one’s ultimate goal just once is knowledge, and to make a continuous effort to see one’s goal is meditation.

     

      • A Sadhu should not beg for anything apart from bread.

     

      • To discard an object from its very essence is Renunciation.

     

      • One whose ego of this body has melted has truly accomplished something.

     

      • To find faults in others is the biggest obstaclein attainment of God.

     

      • One should try to forbear all kinds of misery silently.

     

      • Food is for body and body is not for food.

     

      • A Devotee sees God’s prosperity and a Realized person knows God’s prosperity.

     

      • Apart from attachment,all otherkarmas fall under devotion.

     

      • Constant remembrance of god is actually Maunam, true austere of silence. Not uttering words is not Maunam.

     

      • Do not pay attention to the external behavior of a saint, but see where a saint dwells internally.

     

      • There are four bridges to escape the strong waves of this world:
        • To have faith in Ishwara, guru, and scripture
        • Forgiveness
        • Forbearance
        • Truthfulness & Charity

     

      • Do not forget one’s own Self by seeing dazzling worldly temptations.

     

      • Have faith! You shall definitely be rewarded.

     

      • Do not ever falter from the path of righteousness.

     

      • Attraction and aversion, lower understanding, and ego are knots in a Jiva, an individual soul.

     

      • Inauspicious thoughts, immoral motives or actions, and wrong company is a sign of downfall.

     

      • God, guru, vedas, mantra, holy pilgrimage, medicine, and saint all bear fruits if we have faith in them, and not by arguments.

     

      • Despite many obstacles, one who remains firm and is not dissuaded from his responsibility is worthy of god’s grace.

     

      • Extravagant use of speech faculty is a sign of a liar.

     

      • It purifies one’s mind to do pilgrimage with absolute faith. If wrong thoughts come in a holy place, then it amasses sin.

     

      • I am weak,” and “I am impure” are signs of a weak mind. To keep performing work with patience and enthusiasm is a sign of pure mind.

     

      • Lust and anger are just waves of mind. When mind calms down knowledge, supreme knowledge, dispassion, and bliss is attained.

     

      • Four things one should not do while doing Japa, recitation of mantra:
        • Look here and there
        • Oscillating one’s shoulder or head
        • Laughing
        • Talking.

     

      • God’s grace and one’s own effort both help in making spiritual life progress.

     

      • Japa, meditation, and reading scriptures should be performed with regularity,at the same time,with a specific number of chants.

     

      • As soon as “me” and “mine” melts, everything becomes consciousness.

     

      • Keep a feeling of vastness, Bramhan, from within, but externally keep a low profile.

     

      • Always remember four steps of reasoning:
        • To know the essence of this world as sorrowful.
        • To see this world as if it is a dream.
        • To see this world as Maya of God..
        • To know this world as waves of Atman, Self.

     

      • Do not meditate on the known.

     

      • Destroy body-consciousness by performing extreme austerity with this body.

     

      • The austerity of Maunam,silence helps build some beautiful traits within:
        • Humbleness
        • Modesty
        • Purity
        • Simplicity
        • Humility
        • Peaceful nature.

     

      • A person dedicated to spiritual discipline does not commit sins, and even if he commits out of carelessness, with the fire of his practice he immediately burns his sins to ashes.

     

      • Karma and devotion are not against knowledge but against ignorance.

     

      • One who has dispassion from this phenomenal world and attraction towards other heavenly bodies, he alone is a man of action.

     

      • As along as lust, anger, and greed take refuge in our consciousness one cannot expect to attain knowledge, or even experience the essence of Bhakti.

     

      • As long as ego of knowledge resides one cannot be claimed as a Realized person. And as long as ego of devotion resides, till then he cannot be proclaimed as a Devotee.

     

      • In the path of knowledge scriptural debates are helpful,but in devotion this will lead to downfall. Here only simple faith is required.

     

      • A Realized person seeks peace, and this is the fruit of knowledge. A devotee seeks pure love, which is the fruit of devotion.

     

      • God is formless but for his devotee he assumes form.

     

      • The essence of God is without any attributes, but for his devotees he has attributes.

     

      • There are only three things in this world: seeing, listening, and speaking.He is happy who keeps all three in balance.

     

      • It will purify our mouth if we give up lying, backbiting, and using slang and irrelevant talk.

     

      • It is by the punya,virtue,of millions of births that awakens in one’s heart to do bhiksha, begging for food. Without doing bhiksha, one is unable to understand that this world is just a dream.

     

      • Faith is the beginning and end of spiritual practice. Absolute faith is just one step away from one’s attainment of God. All spiritual effort is for only this.

     

Q. Why do we get distracted?

Distraction happens not because of external reasons, but because of wrong reasoning. If there is right reasoning then there cannot be any distraction.

Q. Why do we get distracted?

The person asking questions has given refuge to ignorance. When the questioner realizes his Real Self, then ignorance cannot exist.
